Altered Stock Diesel Rules

Chassis/Safety

  • 8000# max weight with 26 inch hitch height
  • Drawbar must not extend more than 12 inches past the rear of the truck and must be rigid in all directions.
  • Ballast is permitted. Hanging front weights are allowed. They may not exceed 60” from the center of the front axle. Ballast may be used in the bed of the truck, but must be securely mounted.
  • Weight box maximum width is 84 inches.
  • Front brakes must be operable and stop the vehicle. Rear brakes are not required and may be removed.
  • Truck must have a factory front suspension in place, traction bars allowed front and back, solid suspension allowed in the rear and ladder bars allowed in rear.
  • The OEM chassis is mandatory. The engine must be in the OEM location for the body used.
  • Axle must have been from factory OEM 1 ton or less.
  • Radiators must be in the stock location.
  • Fuel cells are permitted and must be securely mounted in the bed. No fuel cells on front ballast.
  • Batteries may be securely mounted in b the bed or front ballast.
  • An OEM transmission and transfer case are mandatory. They must have been an option on a one-ton or smaller pickup.
  • Steel bell housings or scatter blankets are required.
  • The OEM restraint system is mandatory and must be worn or aftermarket seat and restraint must be securely mounted and inspected by tech.
  • Wheel base must be original factory wheel base for that vehicle
         160” max wheel base.
  • All driveline U joints are to be enclosed 360 degrees using ¼ inch steel or 5/16 aluminum and must be a minimum of 6 inches wide with a maximum of 2 inches of clearance from the U joint. An additional shield/loop is required in center of rear driveshaft.
  • Must have breakaway turbo air kill switch with 2” diameter ring as close to hitch as possible for sled hookup
  • One white reverse light must be operable does not need to be factory light.
  • All vehicles must be equipped with a minimum of 2 pound fire extinguisher
  • Must wear snell 2000 helmet and a 3.2 rated single layer fire jacket and pants.

Engine/Performance

  • The engine is limited to a stock appearing, OEM make specific compression ignition engine. The engine is limited to any diesel engine available in a one ton or smaller pickups; I.E transplanting a Cummins engine into a ford is allowed
  • All engines turning 4500 rpm and higher must be equipped with a damper meeting SFI spec 18.1
  • All vehicles must direct the exhaust upward. Hood stacks are allowed. Two 3/8 inch diameter bolts must be installed through the exhaust pipe in a cross pattern within an inch of each other as close to the turbo as is practical
  • The fuel must be pump #1 or #2 diesel only. Soy/bio-diesel fuel is permitted. Off road diesel fuel is prohibited
  • The fuel injection pump is limited to stock appearing, OEM engine make-specific pumps only. The use of multiple high-pressure common-rail fuel pumps is allowed. 6.0 and 7.3 Power Stroke engine may utilize a second HPOP. Pumps from different years in the same engine model may be interchanged. Dual CP3 pumps are allowed.
  • Turbo: open S300 base with max T4 foot with t4 bolt pattern. No s400 parts allowed. No twin turbos unless stock from factory for that engine. Twin turbo engines (6.4 power stroke) must be stock appearing
  • Air-air turbo coolers only and must be mounted under the hood.
  • Water/methanol injection is PERMITTED.
  • Nitrous Oxide is prohibited along with other oxygen extenders and use of propane is prohibited along with all injectables
  • 33 x 12.50 tire by measure, no cuts. Up to 20” rim
  • Tires must be DOT stamped
